Facebook Has Made it’s Professional Mode Profile Setting Available

Meta has announced that its professional mode profile setting on Facebook is now available to all authors worldwide. Professional mode is intended for creators who want to monetise their social media followings. In December 2021, Facebook began testing professional mode with select creators and is now making it available to everyone on its platform.

Professional mode allows creators to develop a public presence and acquire access to professional tools that were previously only available to Pages, all while utilizing the same Facebook profile they currently have. Facebook described professional mode in a blog post as a method to “grow a public following, earn money from various monetization initiatives, and engage with your audience in more meaningful ways.”

Creators can use the profile setting to gain access to monetization features and analytics tools, such as Facebook’s Reels Play bonus program, which allows you to earn money for the Reels you share. Professional mode also grants eligible creators access to Stars, which allows you to earn money directly from Reels, live, and video on demand followers.

In-stream advertisements will also be available to qualified professional mode producers, allowing them to earn money by authorizing ads before, during, or after lengthier films on demand on Facebook. In addition, the firm is testing advertisements on Facebook Reels in professional mode with a restricted set of producers from across the world. According to the company, the ad format integrates into Reels by placing ads on or between looping Reels.

Professional mode creators also have access to subscriptions, which allow them to share subscriber-only content on the social network. Subscriptions have not yet been fully implemented and are still in the testing phase.

“Professional mode allows you to establish a worldwide audience of followers while remaining connected to friends and family through your personal Facebook page,” the firm explained in a blog post. “As you share public material, you’ll have access to features that were previously only available on Pages to help you gain and engage new followers.”

The expansion comes at a time when Meta is investing in its creator user base, seeing potential in new revenue streams such as creator subscriptions. Meta will need the support of creators as it continues to build the metaverse, so it’s not surprising that it’s looking to expand its offerings for creators.
